Thursday at the WFM

I went to the Westport Farmers Market last week and shot a few pics with my new lens. If you haven't been this year yet, you should really stop by. It's open every Thursday from 10-2pm and everything is organic and beautiful and so delicious. I couldn't stop trying all the free tasters!

I met Jane today of Jane's Good Food. She makes the best homemade pickles and relish. I also tried her toasted walnuts with a paprika rub and fresh rosemary- YUM! Jane told me her mom always said "eat like you mean it" and if you stop by Jane's stand, you definitely will.

If you want an awesome organic taco, get to the market and stop at the Boxcar Cantina stand.
There is always a line there for a reason!

This is the guy who makes them. He's awesome too.

I think Muddy Feet has the prettiest flowers at the Westport Farmer's Market. They are bright and wild and grown organically on a flower farm in Ashford, CT.

My favorite thing today was probably the "ice cream". It's really a hand crafted non-dairy frozen dessert because it's vegan and dairy free but I still liked it! I was VERY skeptical at first but the little girls selling it were so cute and convinced me to try it. Thank god they did because now its in my freezer
and I can't stop eating it!

I'm definitely going back next Thursday. There is so much more beautiful food to try.

Westport Today

I had my camera with me while doing errands today.
Here are some of the nice spots I drove by in my 'hood.

We are so lucky to have the playhouse in town.

This church is on a narrow little lane in Westport. I love the bell in the steeple.

I pass this dilapidated old garage almost every day. It's awesome.

The water was sparkling so bright today on the river, you had to squint while looking at it.

My kids' elementary school. Beautiful building, wonderful memories.

I love driving by this house on my way to Saugatuck. It's on the main road but I love the color, the wrap around porch and it looks so great when they decorate it with American Flags for 4th of July.

Compo never gets old.

The Dogs Are Back!

I went out over the weekend intent on photographing the foliage that is just starting to show it's colors up here but after driving by Compo and seeing that the dogs are now allowed back on the beach,
I had to stop and check out the scene.

This little guy came right up to me and just stood there, staring with his tongue out.

This handsome beast was awesome. Great Dane?

A Pointer, getting read to point!

New friends?

Everyone's happy when the dogs come back to the beach.

Hazy, Hot And Humid

I drove by Compo early one evening during the VERY humid heat wave expecting it to be empty do to the gray and exceptionally clammy weather.  Not so. There were BBQ's, volleyball games, boats going out, you name it. Westporters (unlike me) get out of their cars in not so perfect weather!

Snow Day

I tried to go out and take some pics of the 2ft of snow that fell here in Westport
but our jeep got stuck in the snow. So this is it for now.

A lone jogger on her way to Compo (a few minutes later, she helped us dig out our car!)

Compo Beach

Main Street, freshly plowed

Post Road, Westport

Jimmy Izzo, one of everyone's favorite locals, shoveling the front of his hardware store so
the people of Westport can be prepared to dig out!

And one last pic of my crazy husband going for walk at Compo while the jeep was stuck.

Nash Pond 2013

Nash Pond is frozen (and so am I). I did manage to eke out a few pics before I ran back to the firepit where I sat for the remainder of the day while my friends and their families frolicked on the ice oblivious to the frigid weather.

Check out my blog post from the last time we skated on Nash Pond.
It was two years ago, the year the snow wouldn't stop!
