The Carnival Comes To Town

The carnival is coming to Westport this weekend and everyone loves a carnival. Well most people love a carnival. There are always a few who are petrified off the oversized metal structures which kind of look like monsters that will swirl you around until you throw up. I shot these pics for those scared little guys. I took away the bright colors and I took away the laughter and left just the metal surfaces so maybe we can see what they imagine.

Southport

There's a little area on the Long Island Sound ten minutes from me called Southport. I don't know much about it except it has about 1500 people and it's darling. (I never use that word descriptively but it just works for Southport). I do know the homes are charming and the local library is wonderful for browsing the shelves or just to admire the architecture. My friends all take part in the annual Southport Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, where the residents line the little lanes to cheer for the runners while sipping hot cider. The weather is brisk and the view is beautiful but unfortunately it starts way to early for me to take pictures of such an event. So here are some pics of darling Southport on a nice spring June day around noon.

Before The Storm

I was at Compo this afternoon waiting to shoot the impending storm
when I got a call from my daughter that I had to pick her up right away.
(Of course when I arrived, there was absolutely no sense of urgency!)
So no storm shots today but I did get one cool image of the clouds closing in.

Turkey Hill Road South

Every now and then when I mention I live in Westport, CT, I'm asked if I live near Martha Stewart. Well Martha Stewart doesn't live here anymore but I do drive down her old block, Turkey Hill Road South quite often. I have no idea which home was hers, but the street is so pretty.
Here are a few pics of Martha's old hood.

A Pretty Westport Day

How beautiful does Compo look today? Drive by and check it out. It's too nice a day not too.

I drove over this morning to enjoy the weather and the view before picking up some book donations for my friends Sherry and Adelaide.  http://06880danwoog.com/2013/04/28/sherry-jagerson-booked-for-kenya/

It got me thinking how pretty everything is in Westpoort in the springtime until I saw this in the road!

Luckily I saw this soon after to get that prehistoric reptile off my mind.

Unfortunately on the way home I noticed that old snapping turtle hadn't gotten very far!

40,000 Daffodils

I read an article online the other day about a 96 year old man in Redding, CT who over the years has planted 40,000  daffodils in his back yard. Last year he planted 1447 until he got rained out.  I had to meet this guy! I drove out there around lunch time last saturday and when I pulled up I noticed a small sign on the property that said "Welcome Drive In", so I did. Unfortunately the flower man was not around, but his beautiful work was everywhere!

Babysitting Duty

My sister's babysitter cancelled on the day her trial was starting so guess who had Alice for the day!

This morning we played outside and looked for ladybugs and collected sticks.

Then we went to KidsU!

After lunch we hung out on Jessup Green.

We ended the day at the new froyo place in Westport, Sweet Frog!

My fav pic from the day. I miss her already.
