Memorial Day

In the late spring of 2010 Westport planted one American flag for each American killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Seeing the hundreds of flags all together on the field of green really made one consider the sacrifice. It was very moving.

Mothers and Sons

Friday night I took pictures at a local elementary school for their annual Mother Son Dance. I loved how the boys tried to be cool around their friends but when they came into the room to take the pictures, they sat right on their mom's laps and enjoyed the moment.
Happy (belated) Mother's Day!

Shout Out To Justin

I guess you all know by now I have a thing for teenagers. Today is no exception. Last week we all found out that Justin, a freshman at Staples was diagnosed with Leukemia. Obviously there was shock and sadness. Facebook pages lit up with love and support. Signs with well wishes were posted in school and stories of Justin's humor and character were told. But the thing that got me was how the freshman class came together. Everyone became friends, everyone was little nicer to one another. It wasn't about cliques anymore or even who was a real friend to Justin. That all melted away and these supposedly self centered Westport kids showed their true colors for one of their own. The kids planned a group photo for Justin with everyone wearing purple (Justin's favorite color) or orange for Leukemia and when I took the picture it was like one big happy family.  1-2-3 JUSTIN!

Canadian Geese

Canadian Geese are probably the most hated birds in Westport. Not surprisingly, when I was taking this photograph, two people stopped to ask me why.

But you have to love the babies!

LAX

I have never played lacrosse. My kids have never played lacrosse. I didn't even know that LAX meant lacrosse. Anyway, it seems to be a big deal here in New England so I stopped by to watch my son's friends play over the weekend. The kids are dressed up like robots and have no problem wielding their sticks around. It looks kind of violent to me but the weather was nice so I hung around and enjoyed the afternoon.

Even the first graders look scary!

Sorry Westport Pizza. Sorry Pepe's. Sorry Julian's. The only way I am eating pizza from now on is grilled on the BBQ, especially if it's made by my old friends and Westport neighbors Rachel and Fausto. Thanks again guys.
